What is the next best thing beside your team winning the Stanley Cup? It’s having someone you know bring it over. That is exactly what happened on Monday. Jacques Martin, assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins, brought the cup to his hometown, St-Pascal Baylon. Of course, many of the people came to see the cup, but many also came because they were really happy to see Jacques and to share in the joy of his success. It was hard not to get caught in the excitement of the moment. Penguins were never my team, I grew up a Montreal fan, then switch over to Sens. This year though, I did watch a few games and cheered for Pittsburgh, after all, if your team can’t make it all the way, at least one can support a coach you know. I’m really happy for Jacques Martin and his family. I’m sure they will be smiling for a while.
Merci.
